On May 7th four members of the Pediatric Council met with five medical directors from major insurance companies to follow-up on vaccine data and to discuss the pediatric medical home.  Peggy Stemmler MD, MBA, FAAP gave a presentation that described medical home concepts.  A. D. Jacobson MD, FAAP followed with a presentation reviewing data on telephone calls, after hours visits, and care plan oversight.  Their slideshows can be accessed above.

A team of 2 Pediatric Council members and Dr. Stemmler will be following up with individual insurance companies to discuss how these companies can work with pediatricians to develop and pay for the medical home in pediatrics.  After these “teams” meet with their respective medical directors, there will be a follow-up face to face meeting with the medical directors in September with the hope of establishing medical home pilot programs with 5-10 practices to gather data.
